Liminal space

작년 HCI proceeding을 보다가 주어 들은 단어. liminal space.
뭔가 있어보여서 찾아봤음.
역시나 '역치'라는 단어랑 비슷해 보이는데...생각했는데 어원이 거기에서 왔나보다.
자기자랑 멈출줄 모르는 깔때기 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

근데, 도통 무슨 뜻인지는 모르겠다. liminal space ??
일단 liminality 부터..

Liminality (from the Latin word limen, meaning "a threshold") is a psychological, neurological, or metaphysical subjective state, conscious or unconscious, of being on the "threshold" of or between two different existential planes, as defined in neurological psychology (a "liminal state") and in the anthropological theories of ritual.

뭔가 두 상태의 중간에 위치한 애매모호한 상태를 말하나보다.

Liminal Space is a term that applies to those uncertain times in our lives when we stand in the "threshold" between the "old" which may no longer work and the "new" which is not yet clear. This experience can apply to relationships, jobs, or those "bigger" issues like belief systems or the purpose and meaning of our lives.
